  • About

This beautiful girl is Anastasia. She is around 5 years old and medium in size.

She was dumped on the street in March 2022 in a horiffic condition.

She had a huge tumor under her tail, an open wound on her head and an injured leg. She was full of fleas, ticks and worms, and after visiting vet it was found that she also had heartworm.

Our lovely rescuer enlisted our help quickly and she was taken to surgery. The tumor was removed (which was thankfully benign), she was spayed and heartworm treatment was started.

Anastasia is now heartworm free but because of her heart condition due to  the HW infection  she is using Cardiovet supplement as a protection for her heart.

As for the leg, there were two fractures, one on the elbow joint, and the other at her wrist. Since these are old injuries which had already healed the orthopedic veterinarian said that it’s too late to operate but, as she does use the leg it’s not wise to amputate.

She will benefit from a joint supplement to keep her mobile and may also benefit from hydrotherapy and physiotherapy on the elbow joint.

She has a bald patch on her head where one of the wounds hasn’t quite healed but this should be fully healed by the time she travels

Anastasia is now safe in a pension where she is kept safe waiting for her new home.

Despite everything she has been through (years of neglect and probably abuse) she is a happy dog who loves people and other dogs. She is proven to be good with children over 10 years of age, loves to play and cuddle. She has not yet been tested with cats, but this can be arranged if required.

Anastasia tested positive for heart worm on routine testing but is now clear. She will be able to travel to the UK now she has two negative heartworm control tests have been achieved and a scan to check no lasting damage.
Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and dogs can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).

    Rescue back up for life
