Brnja and his brother were loved and cared for by an elderly couple. The couple became too old and sick and couldn't take care of them anymore, so their family wanted to take the brothers and just leave them at some remote place.
One of our rescuers heard the story and thankfully was in a position to be able to help them out before the poor doggos could be dumped.
Brnja is now around 4 years old, his brother Bobi is now happily living in the UK but sadly Brnja is still waiting. Brnja is wonderful with people, he loves attention and is always eager to be petted. He has recently been moved into a foster where he will learn how to live in a home and he’s happy playing with the other dogs. He is a strong dog and he loves his food so will be great fun to train!
Brnja has been treated for and is fully recovered from heart worm, he has received our standard two negative tests after treatment including a lab Knott blood test and an ultrasound scan to ensure no lasting effects from the heart-worm have remained, these can all be supplied to Brnja's new adopter. Heart-worm is fairly common in Serbia and is transmitted by a mosquito bite.
We have many fully recovered dogs leading normal and full lives in the UK after treatment. There is a video about heartworm in our video library on our website that provides information and can be found here.
Brnja is fully vaccinated, castrated and ready to find a new home.
All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
