Meet Ena
Ena lived with her owner in a village for years. Unfortunately, her owner passed away and the family just left her on the property. She managed as best as she could by wandering around the village but eventually someone called the dog catchers and she ended up in a public shelter exhausted, full of ticks and fleas.
Ena was taken out of the shelter and found a place in pension where she has settled well. According to the vet, Ena is around 6 years old and very lively and cheerful with a lovely nature. She loves her cuddles and is obedient and eager to please. She gets along well with the other dogs in the pension and loves attention from people.
Ena has been treated for and is fully recovered from heartworm, she has received our standard two negative tests after treatment including a lab Knott blood test and an ultrasound scan to ensure no lasting effects from the heart-worm have remained, these can all be supplied to Ena’s new adopter.
Heart-worm is fairly common in Serbia and is transmitted by a mosquito bite. We have many fully recovered dogs leading normal and full lives in the Uk after treatment. There is a video about heartworm in our video library on our website that provides information and can be found here:
https://www.balkanunderdogs.org.uk/video-library.
All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
