Meet Hack
This beautiful Husky is Hack. He was saved from the streets a few years ago by one of our lovely rescuers and adopted to an older couple in Serbia. Sadly due to a death and poor health he needs to be rehomed so we were asked if we could help.
Hack is a wonderful example of the breed. He is great with other dogs and loves people. An all round lovely boy.
Hack tested positive for heart worm on routine testing and is currently under treatment. He will be able to travel to the UK after two negative heartworm control tests have been achieved and a scan to check no lasting damage.
Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and dogs can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here: https://www.balkanunderdogs.org.uk/video-library and https://www.balkanunderdogs.org.uk/adoption.
All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
