  • About

Ivica is a beautiful little black dog and he was left with Marica (Marica, white dog in photos) on the side of a busy road. They are a bonded pair and we would love to find them a home together.

Ivica is male and both are small in size and around 3 years old. They are lovely dogs who are playful and happy with other dogs.  However, they are deeply devoted to each other - just look at their smiley faces.

Ivica tested positive for heart worm on routine testing and is currently under treatment.  He will be able to travel to the UK after two negative heartworm control tests have been achieved and a scan to check no lasting damage.

Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and dogs can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here.

Marcia (Marica) has tested positive on a routine screening test for Anaplasmosis, this is a fairly common tick- borne disease prevalent in countries such as the Balkans, it is treated with a course of 30 days of antibiotics which is sufficient according to vet advice received. She does not show any symptoms of Anaplasmosis and has received her 30 day course of treatment.

A useful information sheet on Anaplasmosis can be found here

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).

    Rescue back up for life
