Meet Lou
Lou and her parents had been living for some time in an area where our rescuers could feed and look after them. However, locals became annoyed with the family and they were at risk of being poisoned. Our rescuer asked BU for help and we moved them to safety.
Lou is an incredibly cheerful miss, loves to be centre of attention and equally loves to play with the other dogs in the pension. She is extremely lovable and would make a fabulous family pet.
She is fully vaccinated and spayed and is medium in size.
Lou tested positive for heart worm on routine testing and is currently under treatment. Lou will be able to travel to the UK after two negative heartworm control tests have been achieved and a scan to check no lasting damage. Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and dogs can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here:

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
