Ena

Lovely friendly female

Around  5 - 6 years old

Good with people and other dogs

  • Meet Ena

Ena lived with her owner in a village for years. Unfortunately, her owner passed away and the family just left her on the property. She managed as best as she could by wandering around the village but eventually someone called the dog catchers and she ended up in a  public shelter exhausted, full of ticks and fleas.

Ena was taken out of the shelter and found a place in pension where she has settled well.  She is a very lively and cheerful dog with a lovely nature.  She loves her cuddles and is obedient and eager to please.  She gets along well with the other dogs in the pension and loves attention from people.

Ena previously tested positive for anaplasmosis and heartworm on routine testing, however she has finished her treatment and is fully recovered from both.

Anaplasmosis is a fairly common tick-borne disease prevalent in countries such as the Balkans. It is treated with a course of 30 day antibiotics which is sufficient according to vet advice recieved.

For heartworm Ena has received our standard two negative tests after treatment including a lab Knott blood test and an ultrasound scan to ensure no lasting effects from the heartworm have remained, these can all be supplied to Ena's new adopter.

Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and is transmitted by a mosquito bite. Many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here.

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
