Archie

Archie, a Breton Spaniel, was rescued from the pound in March 2026 after being found with what appeared to be a dislocated hip. Veterinary examination confirmed that the injury to his leg was chronic and, sadly, the leg could not be saved. Archie is now a three-legged dog and has adapted remarkably well to his new circumstances.

 

Archie is a little superstar with a lovely nature. He is good with other dogs, enjoys being around people and is great with children. Archie also has signs of arthritis, so his new family will need to be mindful of his mobility and physical limitations. He will need appropriate exercise, rest and the opportunity to do things at his own pace.

 

Despite everything he has been through, Archie is a happy, affectionate boy who enjoys life and the company of those around him. Archie is now looking for a loving home where his needs will be understood and where he can enjoy the next chapter of his life, surrounded by the care and companionship he deserves.

 

Archie is neutered and vaccinated and negative on all tests bar showing a positive result for anaplasmosis, for which antibiotic treatment was started.

 

Anaplasmosis is a fairly common tick-borne disease prevalent in countries such as the Balkans. It is treated with a course of 30 days of antibiotics which is sufficient according to vet advice received. Archie does not show any symptoms of anaplasmosis and has received his 30 day course of treatment. A useful information sheet on Anaplasmosis can be found here. All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
