Why is this so important?

We know that many pups and kittens continue to be born on the streets where, if they manage to survive for any length of time, they struggle to find food, warmth and protection. These animals are already at risk from starvation, disease, traffic and dog catchers to name only a few. Bring winter in to this equation and their troubles intensify! Serbian winters see temperatures drop as low as -18 and we need help to get straw, bedding and food, not just for the shelters, but for dogs and cats still on the street waiting for a shelter space and who are at great risk of freezing to death.

 

The Balkan Underdogs yearly winter appeal ensures that we can help our rescuers in Serbia to provide shelter and food which can help offer some safety for street dogs and cats. It also allows them to provide straw, bedding, tarpaulin and food at the government pounds where BU have the ability to help and identify the most vulnerable dogs.

 

Our winter appeal really is the difference between survival or death for these abandoned animals. Please, if you can, spare a few pounds to help us to help them. They really have no one else.
