Meet Maya
Meet pretty girl Maya.
Maya was living happily with a small group on the street where they were fed by one of our rescuers when someone called the dog catchers.
The whole group were taken to a public pound where several of them unfortunately died. Maya was one of the lucky ones as our lovely rescuer asked for our help to get her to safety so she didn’t suffer the same fate. Maya was moved to a Pension where she settled in well.Maya is described as a lovely dog who is friendly with other dogs, and espcially loves attention fro people. She is great with kids but has not been cat tested.
Maya has been treated for and is fully recovered from heart worm, she has received our standard two negative tests after treatment including a lab Knott blood test and an ultrasound scan to ensure no lasting effects from the heart-worm have remained, these can all be supplied to Maya’s new adopter.
Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs recover in full if caught early enough and dogs can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website hereAll our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
