  • Meet Baxter

Baxter is a big lovely dog with a beautiful coat colour, and looks like a Vizsla mix. He appeared on the streets late 2025 and soon made friends with other dogs and some people. Because of his size, and the fact that he chose the school as a favourite hang out and so the parents complained, he needed to be taken to safety.

Active, playful and cheerful, Baxter is affectionate with people and loves their company and cuddles. He can live in homes with children over the age of 8, and with dog-hardy cats - his best friend on the street was a cat!

Baxter is neutered, negative on all tests except he showed a positive result for Anaplasmosis, for which antibiotic treatment was started.

Anaplasmosis is a fairly common tick-borne disease prevalent in countries such as the Balkans. It is treated with a course of 30 days of antibiotics which is sufficient according to vet advice received. Baxter does not show any symptoms of Anaplasmosis and has received his 30 day course of treatment. A useful information sheet on Anaplasmosis can be found here. Please contact the team if you have any questions.

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).
