  • Meet Meg

Meg was found wandering around a graveyard that is a dumping ground for unwanted dogs and puppies. She was being regularly fed by one of our rescuers but then suddenly disappeared for a month or so. When she finally reappeared she was in a terrible state having lost considerable weight and most of her fur due to demodex which in turn caused body wounds from her constant scratching.

Meg received veterinary treatment and was taken to a pension to enable her to recover prior to finding her forever home. She has now recovered from her ordeal, but is now being treated for heartworm and won't be available until she recovers. She will eventually need  a loving home where she can be the only pet, or share with another large dog.

Meg loves people and dogs the same size as her or larger, but isn't keen on smaller dogs or cats. She needs an experienced adopter who can take their time to really bond with her. She is a "people's" dog and would do anything for her human. She is extremely loyal and very loving and would make the perfect soulmate for the right person. She can be a bit uneasy around smaller dogs and females so a home being an only dog or with a male dog her size or bigger would be ideal. We would recommend a home with children over 12 years old because of her size and with no cats.

Heartworm is fairly common in Serbia and many dogs/cats recover in full if caught early enough and dogs/cats can lead full and normal lives. Heartworm is not generally well known in the UK but there are plenty of articles online and a useful video within the video library on our website here

All our dogs are tested for the following prior to travel: Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Brucellosis (since 11th June 2021).

    Rescue back up for life
